Education Programs

Consistent with the Shakespeare Theatre Company's central mission—to be the leading force in producing and preserving the highest quality classic theatre—the Education Department is positioned as both a local and national resource for learners of all ages.

We approach teaching classic text from a process of performance. By exploring theatre techniques, learners are empowered with the tools to interpret the narrative. This process of theatrical exploration includes: command of text, use of imagination, creation of character and physicalization of language. We seek to engage learners actively, enabling them to take ownership of the text and bring it to life. We encourage all to think critically, question freely, share openly and engage in an ongoing exploration of Shakespeare.
